ABUJA | FCT to employ more teachers

The acting secretary of the FCT Education Secretariat, Malam Musa Maikasuwa, has said more teachers will be employed by the FCT Administration to create a conducive environment for learning.

He said this yesterday during an inspection tour with journalists to government schools in Abuja.

Maikasuwa said the students needed more teachers to teach them as the demand for public schools has gone high, adding that most parents withdrew their children from private schools and enrolled them in government schools.

He also advised that students should partake in extra lessons after school as that would help improve the performance of students in the core subjects.

We observed that most schools in the Federal Capital Territory have resumed and learning has commenced as students were seen taking lessons in their various classes.

Among the schools visited were Model Secondary School, Maitama, Government Science Secondary School, Maitama; as well as Government Secondary School, Mabushi.

A student of Government Science Secondary School, Maitama, Faith Hubanie (SS2), pleaded with the FCT Administration to complete their hostels and provide sports facilities for them.
