Air Transport Workers ground MMIA over unlawful sack of Bi-Courtney Staff

The National Union of Air Transport Employee have shut down the Murtala International Airport Lagos over what the Union described as the gross violation of the rights of Bi-Courtney staff to freely associate with other union.

The Air Transport Employee in a memo made available to LeadersNG says “All employees sacked as a result of their membership and association with our union are fully reinstated without loss of pay and seniority.

The Union enjoins the management of Bi-Courtney to immediately comply with the law by fully recognizing the unions and allows the process of unionization unhindered.

The Air Transport Workers advised traveling Public to seek alternative travel points or dates.

The Nigerian constitution guarantees freedom of association by individuals. Section 40 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 states that “Every person shall be entitled to assemble freely and associate with other persons, and in particular he may form or belong to any political party, trade union or any association for the protection of his interests.
