Corey Lewandowski has resigned from CNN, the channel confirmed to POLITICO.
Lewandowski, Donald Trump’s former campaign manager, joined the cable news channel as an analyst in June, shortly after parting ways with the campaign.
CNN’s Brian Stelter, who first reported the move, reports that Lewandowski will join the Trump administration, though it is not yet clear in what capacity. Lewandowski was a controversial figure during the campaign, and at times was aggressive with journalists, threatening to remove them from the press pen, or in the case of Breitbart’s Michelle Fields, physically pulling her away from Trump after a press conference.
CNN president Jeff Zucker has defended the controversial hiring of Lewandowski, noting that pro-Trump voices had been sparse on cable news during most of the campaign.
