As the race to Ekiti state Gubernatorial election begins, the Ekiti state Governor, Ayodele Peter Fayose has began moves to align with APC chieftian, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to form a formidable alliance ahead of the 2018 Governorship election.
LeadersNG learned that the Governor has made several visits to Lagos to meet secretly with the Jagaban in order to cement their political relationship.
You will recall that last month the Governor removed banners, flags and logos of PDP from the Ekiti state secretariat. This began his move with Asiwaju to avoid the repetition of what happened in Ondo state where there were claims over who is the authentic Governorship candidate and the eventual defeat of the PDP’s candidate.
LeadersNG have also gathered that Governor Fayose has also requested financial assistance from the former Lagos Governor over funding of the upcoming elections, a gentle reminder that Ekiti state civil servants have not been paid salaries for over 6 months.
LeadersNG further learned that Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu has advised the Ekiti Governor to tone down on his criticism of Buhari in order to allow the two strategize ahead of the governorship election.
An aide to the Governor also told LeadersNG that a committee has been set up jointly by Asiwaju and Fayose to work out the modalities for the alliance.
Part of the agreement between the duo is that, in the event that the president dies or becomes completely incapacitated, Fayose will work with Osinbajo for regional interest.
It was agreed that Fayose will not attack the acting president.
The committee will also decide who gets Governorship and Deputy governorship tickets.
