Justice Aliyu Usman of the Bauchi High Court has adjourned till Dec. 12, hearing on a suit filed by the Bauchi State Chief of Staff against a former governorship candidate under the defunct Congress of Progressive Change (CPC) in the 2011 election, Yusuf MaitamaTuggar, over alleged defamation of character.
It would be recalled that the Chief of Staff to the state governor, Architect Audu Sule Katagum, had sued Tuggar, asking for N2bn as damages.
He also demanded an apology and a retraction on the electronics media to be aired three times daily for seven days.
He alleged in the suit that Maitama Tuggar used his Facebook page to cast aspersion on his person.
The case came up for hearing Thursday before the Bauchi State High Court 5 which granted the motion for defence filed by Alhaji Audu Sule Katagum against Alhaji Yusuf Tuggar.
The court granted the motion based on the formal request by the defence counsel.
Counsel to the defendant, Barrister Mustapha Tafarki, said his client never posted any negative thing on the social media against the plaintiff as alleged.
