Africa’s leading mobile phone brand, itel Mobile, has stepped up its support for the advancement of Nigeria’s education, as its “Love Always On” campaign moved to a school in Lagos, the commercial centre of the country.
The initiative, which is one of the company’s way of giving back to the society, has made substantial contribution to numerous schools since 2016 when it started.
On Wednesday, February 28, 2018, the mobile giant first edition of the initiative in 2018 considered a school in Lagos, after the initiative had toured many schools across the different zones of the country in last year edition.
The campaign which is aimed at supporting young Nigerians, arrived at Local Government Primary school, Shogunle, Oshodi, Lagos, to the excitement of pupils, who trooped out to welcome the delegation.
At the event, the Marketing Communications Manager of itel Mobile Nigeria, Mr. Oke Umurhohwo, spoke glowingly of the company’s vision to improve learning among pupils across the country, adding that this “is in our (itel) promise to reach 2000 pupils in 2018 and give back to the society.”
Mr. Umurhohwo who lamented the less of access to basic educational tools in many schools, stated that education is key and itel mobile would continue to promote Nigerian education through different initiatives that would be unveiled with time.
“We understand how education is crucial to the advancement of any nation and we will do our bit to contribute to it [education] growth, seeing to it that the future leaders are given the needed help to develop.”
The Marketing Manager, Marvin Umebiye, also stated that this drive for giving back to the society is one which itel takes very seriously as this initiative is being undertaken in over 40 countries around the world.
After a brief sensitisation talk on the need for the pupils to take their education serious, itel mobile, donated learning materials to students of the school. The smiles and happiness among the pupils were visible as they received bags, books and pens from the company.
Seemingly elated at itel’s intervention, the head teacher of the school, Mrs. Khadija Abiola along with two other teachers, expressed appreciation at the education materials doled out to their pupils, saying it will ease their jobs and facilitate improved standard among students.
