A reliable source close to Nigeria’s oil mogul, Mr Femi Otedola has told LeadersNG that the Billionaire businessman intends to contest for the 2019 gubernatorial primaries under the platform of All Progressives Congress but has been advised upon to shelve his ambition till 2023.
Femi Otedola’s biggest dream according to our source has always been to govern the commercial nerve of Nigeria, Lagos State, a state his father, Pa Michael Otedola once held sway as governor in a republic that was ephemeral.
The oil magnate who before now, was one of the big financiers of opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP opted for the ruling All Progressives Congress and has been making consultation across political divides as regards his intention to contest Lagos state gubernatorial election.
Mr Femi Otedola’s ambition according to an APC chieftain LeadersNG spoke with, will meet a stiff opposition from Bola Ahmed Tinubu who calls the shot in Lagos politics, but the billionaire business man is looking to sign a pact with the APC national leader whom he has had a long time relationship with in order to realize his political ambition in 2023 with a promise that he will support Akinwunmi Ambode’s re-election bid.
LeadersNG gathered that the ‘Molue’ ride in the ever busy city of Lagos was a PR stunt to test his popularity among the locals. The move, we learned later turned out to be flop as many in the popular Molue Bus couldn’t recognize who he really was.
His sudden love for social media, LeadersNG gathered is all geared towards his ambition in 2023 as he looks forward to socially engage with electorates both online and offline.
An aide to Mr. Otedola confirmed to LeadersNG that their principal is indeed running and he has set up a formidable media team comprising of seasoned Journalists, PR experts, and social media influencers.
LeadersNG also learned that Femi Otedola has donated a whooping sum of N5Billion to governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s re-election campaign.
Femi Otedola, Son of Pa Michael Otedola, former governor of Lagos state is the Chairman of Forte Oil Plc, an importer of fuel products. He is also the founder of Zenon Petroleum and Gas Ltd, and the owner of a number of other businesses across shipping, real estate and finance.
There may be a change of plans but LeadersNG source is confident that Otedola being a man ahead of his time, has decided to wait till 2023 unlike many who would be thinking towards 2019.
