As Nigerians begin to adjust to the new name in the telecommunications sector 9 Mobile, LeadersNG have exclusively gathered that the former telecommunications company Etisalat which handed over its assets to 9 Mobile recently was run down by its biggest Share Holder and the Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El Rufai and its former chairman Bello Osagie.
LeadersNG gathered from inside sources in the former management of Etisalat that El Rufai and Bello Osagie took $20Bn illegally from the company for their personal use. A source in the Kaduna Government house later told LeadersNG that El Rufai’s 2019 Presidency bid will be sponsored by his share of the $20Bn.
You would recall that Bello Osagie resigned his appointment with the telecommunications giant after the consortium of banks that lent the telecommunications company $1.2bn in 2013 insisted on the total restructuring of the company.
El Rufai himself has constantly denied owning interest in the former telecommunications giant in the past. He was first suspected of being a major shareholder in the telecommunications giant when he was alleged to be against a soft landing for MTN Nigeria over the fine slammed on it by the Nigerian Communications Commission during an NGF meeting on November 18, 2015.
At the crash of Etisalat, the Kaduna Governor remained quiet throughout the take over process to further masquerade his interests in the company which he helped to run down.
Etisalat whose headquarters sit in the Middle Eastern state of Dubai has finalised plans to sue El Rufai and Bello Osagie as they are well believed to be responsible for the bankruptcy of the company which eventually led to the take over by the banks
