As Nigerians count down to 2019 General Elections, LeadersNG through multiple sources can authoritatively report that the Presidency in its quest to win the South-East for President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election bid has perfected plans to use the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.
LeadersNG reports that part of the agreement reached with Anambra state Governor, Mr Willie Obiano during the recently concluded governorship election where the governor emerged the winner without any interference from the presidency was to ensure that he uses the All Progressives Grand Alliance platform in the Christian dominated South-Eastern part of Nigeria to work for President Muhammadu Buhari.
The South-Eastern Nigeria has not been a fertile ground for Nigerian septuagenarian leader, President Muhammadu Buhari who had previously lost in all the presidential elections he had vied for. An aide to the Nigerian leader who spoke to our correspondent on a condition of anonymity said, all that the president is looking for is just 25%.
“All we are hoping to get from the South-East is 25% of the votes in two-thirds of the region’s 5 states as required by law. We know we can’t win in South-Eastern states but with APGA sentiment in the region, we will be able get at least 25% with this alliance”.
An IPOB source also told LeadersNG that there is a serious disagreement amongst its members as the SSS officials on covert operations in the region have succeeded in brainwashing some of them. The source said, the narrative the SSS officials are pushing is that, It will be best for the agitators to boycott the election.
“Many of our members are buying into this lies that if Biafran separatists boycott the election and Buhari wins, there is a likelihood that Nigeria may disintegrate as many political actors are against his re-election bid”.
Meanwhile, the senator representing Anambra Central, Chief Victor Umeh said the federal government of Nigeria has approved the refund of N37.95Billion to the Anambra state government out of the N43 Billion owed the state for the Repairs and rehabilitation of Federal roads and other intervention funds of federal government projects in the state. LeadersNG gathered that the recent approval of the money being owed the state by the Federal Government was solely to fund the President’s re-election bid in the region.
The Presidency has also pinned down APGA candidates that they will covertly support in the region as part of the grand plan to use the indigenous party to wrestle power from the main opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP since the ruling party chances of winning in the South-East is slim due to negative perception the party has in the region.
It was also gathered that in Enugu state, the All Progressives Congress (APC) is working closely with former governor Sulivan Chime, Former Senate President, Ken Nnamani and former governor, Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani.
In Ebonyi, the state governor who’s been alleged to have been one of PDP governors working for Buhari’s re-election is yet to reach a compromise with Buhari’s men. A former governor in the state, Martin Elechi and the senator representing Ebonyi South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Sonni Ogbuoji are said to be the new converts of APC.
LeadersNG understands that the main reason why the APC National Chairman, Mr Adams Oshiomhole has been at loggerheads with Dr. Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour and Employment was the directive by the APC chairman that Ngige hands the APC structure in the state to Governor willie Obiano. Sources close to Dr. Chris Ngige said, the minister finds it insulting for Oshiomhole to have made such a careless move after all the efforts they put in to build the party in the state and region.
You would recall that the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige had said the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, mr. Adams Oshiomhole was talking out of ignorance when he threatened him to inaugurate the boards of federal agencies and parastatals under his ministry or be suspended from the party.
Ngige who frowned at the threats by the National Chairman said, he was part of those who founded the party before bringing the likes of Oshiomhole in. The minister maintained that the board of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund was yet to be inaugurated because of reports of diversion of funds to the tune of N48bn.
LeadersNG further learned that Anambra state Governor, Willie Obiano, Former Senate President, Ken Nnamani and Alex Otti have been charged and adequately mobilized to scout for credible candidates with political clout that can win elections in the four eastern states where election will be held in 2019. When LeadersNG correspondent asked one of our sources on the role of the Chairman of APC governors forum, Mr Rochas Okorocha, the source said, the governor has lost political relevance in the region and can not give the president the desired votes that he needs.
However, most of the South-East leaders our correspondent spoke with have described the move as a joke and a political suicide on the side of those orchestrating the agenda.
A top ranking chieftain of Igbo Socio-Political group, Ohaneze Ndigbo, Mr. Chidi Nwankwo said, Igbos are politically sophisticated to be hoodwinked by selected few whose only interest is their stomach.
“We have not forgotten their operation Python dance. They desecrated on us by sending their soldiers to harass and kill our people. By God’s grace, the injustice being meted on our people and the deliberate negligence of our region by the APC led Federal government will be repaid in full come 2019.”
“We will use our PVC to prove to our oppressors that indeed, power belongs to the people. Those who would compromise and betray their region for monetary gain should know that the day of reckoning is coming.
All efforts to reach the Spokesperson of the governor as at the time of filing this report proved abortive as text messages sent to his lines were not replied.
