150 persons have been reported killed following a fresh attack by suspected Fulani gunmen in Gashish village of Barkin Ladi Local Government of Plateau State.
The attackers were said to have opened fire Saturday evening on the convoy of sympathizers while returning from a burial.
It would be recalled that Four members of the same family were on Wednesday night wipe out by suspected Fulani herdsmen at kai village, Kurra Falls Gashish District of the Same Barkin Ladi LGC of the State.
A Journalist with the Light Bearer Newspaper published in Jos, name (Masara Kim) was also reported wounded on Saturday evening while returning to Jos on a vehicle with other people.
Investigation revealed that Barkin-Ladi LGA has again come under heavy siege from herdsmen for the last one week.
Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer ASP Tyopev Mathias, however, confirmed that there was an attack, but couldn’t give any figure of casualty at the time of this report.
He assured that the Police and other security agencies have immediately responded to curtail the situation, saying the security are doing everything possible to ensure normally at the Area.
However, reports have indicated that the past 48 hours has witnessed several ambushes, guerrilla attacks and killings across several villages of Gashish district in Barkin Ladi LGC of the Plateau State while about 15 deaths have so far been reported.
Gindin Akwati which is only a couple of miles out of Barkin Ladi main village was said to have come under another heavy siege this evening -with sporadic shot of automatic assault rifles heard in the distance as our reporter was speaking to people from the community.
