Hundreds of students from various tertiary institutions across the state, largely dominated by UNIOSUN students from the Ikire campus and few artisans were seen marching the streets of Osogbo this morning to canvass for the nomination of a candidate by the APC from the Osun West senatorial district.
The students who were initially summoned to the state capital under the guise of a congress to demand for their delayed bursary payment by the state government were cajoled and bamboozled to lead the protest which was coordinated by some associates of the governor of the state of Osun , Comrade Bayo Ojo , Comrade Demola Yahaya, Taofeek Masah, and Comrade Sadiq Olajide . Each of the students was later settled with a thousand naira for their transportation and mobilization fee from their various campuses. The trio of Ojo, Yahaya and Sadiq who are Governor’s aide attached to Department of Social, Grassroots Mobilisation and Guidance, Office of the Governor were said to be rooting for a retired permanent secretary Engineer Lere Oriolowo until last week when they jettisoned Oriolowo for Mr Bola Oyebamiji.
However, the fourty five minutes protest didn’t record the expected mileage despite the huge fund released to stage it, as no notable indigenous politician was involved, as it was students’ activists and artisans coordinated protest. Report has it that the protest was sponsored by the Osun commissioner for regional integration, Mr Bola Ilori who hitherto is vehemently opposed to the aspiration and likely emergence of the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Adegboya Oyetola as the flag-bearer of APC in the forthcoming September 22nd gubernatorial election. Ilori was the Director General of the AD’s candidate in the Ondo gubernatorial grudge with Oyetola is not farfetched as he was denied a leading role in the campaign structure of the Oyetola’s governorship project and this can be traced to the spoiler’s role which he used to factionalized the APC in Ondo state with a fake opinion poll he conducted to deceive South West leaders.
Another close associate of Aregbesola was heard saying it is high time the governor took charge of the affairs of the state as foreigners who are not indigenes of Osun are the ones creating unnecessary tension in the political camp of Governor Rauf Aregbesola ahead the APC Governorship Primary election , as Bola Ilori is an Ondo indigene, same applies to Bayo Ojo who is an indigene of Kogi state, Taofeek Masah an indigene of Lagos State is also involved and Yahaya Demola who is an indigene of Kwara state .
