A chieftain of the APC, Senator Abubakar Girei, has advised PDP to change its name and rebrand to form a viable opposition to the ruling party.
Girei served as senator representing Adamawa Central between 1999 and 2003 and contested for governorship under the platform of the PDP before decamping to the APC.
He noted that poor performance by the PDP during its 16-year rule had already destroyed its image.
“Democracy is about choice and since PDP’s name is already soiled and, therefore, can no longer fly, they need to start by renaming the party.
Speaking on the Supreme Court judgement that favoured Senator Ahmed Makarfi, Girei said: “This is a very pleasing and positive development for our democracy and our nation. There is the need to reinvent, rebrand and reposition PDP to provide a viable and strong opposition to our ruling party.”
