Saraki to reshuffle heads of committees

Barely a day after the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara sacked Abdulmumini Jibrin as the Chairman of the Appropriation Committee, a major reshuffling is in the offing at the Senate as the Senate President, Bukola Saraki will any moment from now announce reshuffling of several committees as part of efforts to close ranks with APC Senators.
Some members of the Senate Unity Forum had last year accused the Senate President of bias in the appointment of Heads of Committees.
One of them, Kabiru Marafa (Zamfara Central), specifically called for nullification of the committees saying it violates the rules of the Senate.
“the number of the committess was increased from 57 to 65. This is the National Assembly where the rules should be expected” Marafa argued will complaining about the composition of the committees.
Saraki, as gathered will be announcing the reshuffling of committees at today’s plenary.
This move, according to a reliable source is one of many plans the Senate President has in mind to bring to an end, the age long disputes between members of the Eight Senators.
“Baring any last minute changes ,the Senate President will announce reshuffling of committee’s today as part of the effort to close ranks with APC senators” The source said.
