US launches Air Strike in Libya

A request by the UN-backed Libyan Govt. has requested that air strikes be carried out in various ISIS dominated parts of the country. The US have followed up on the request & have started carrying out the air strikes at designated positions in the ISIS-dominated port city of Sirte. In a televised address, Libyan PM Fayes al-Sarraj said that the strikes caused “heavy losses.” This will be the first time the US is coordinating air strikes with the support of the Libyan unity government. The Pentagon in a statement said, “These actions & those we have taken previously will help deny ISIL (aka ISIS or IS or Daesh) a safe haven in Libya from which it could attack the United States & our allies.”
