“Exaggerated sensitiveness is an expression of the feeling of inferiority.” Alfred Adler
Sensitive Security Matters is a term that refers to information, procedures, or activities related to security that require special care and handling due to their sensitive nature.
This can include details about security measures, vulnerabilities, or classified information that, if compromised, could pose a risk to individuals, organisations, or national security.
It is important to handle sensitive security matters with the appropriate level of confidentiality and security to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure.
So many people have attacked the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in his tweet that says, “Don’t cry more than the bereaved.” From my perspective, it was idiomatic and contextual, not to disrespect the dead.
Even the Holy Book says in Proverbs 26:5 (KJV): “Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit.”.
I completely understand Nigerians’ concerns when security is breached, such as the kidnapping and killing that occur to Alhaji Mansoor Al-Kadriyar and his six children.
Security issues can be very sensitive, and it’s important to handle them with care. Security strategies to arrest kidnappers can’t be disclosed on (X) Twitter, as insisted by X (Twitter) users.
If Nigerians have specific security concerns or questions, it would be best to address them in a private and secure environment.
Handling sensitive security matters requires a thoughtful and methodical approach. Here are some general guidelines to consider:
Assess the situation: Understand the nature and scope of the security issue. Identify potential risks, vulnerabilities, and potential impacts.
Maintain Confidentiality: Limit the dissemination of sensitive information to only those directly involved in addressing the security matter. Utilise secure communication methods and adhere to confidentiality protocols.
Establish clear communication: Determine who needs to be informed about the security matters within your organization. Ensure that communication channels are secure and limited to those who need to know.
Engage Security Professionals: Seek assistance from qualified security experts or consultants who can provide valuable insights, guidance, and expertise in addressing specific security concerns.
Implement Necessary Measures: Take proactive steps to address the security issue, such as implementing security protocols, conducting thorough investigations, and making any required changes to policies and procedures.
Monitor and Follow Up: Continuously monitor the situation and follow up on any additional developments or changes. Regularly review security measures and ensure ongoing vigilance.
Learn From the Experience: Use the security incident as an opportunity to learn and improve security practices within your organization. Conduct a post-incident analysis to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement.
Ultimately, handling sensitive security matters involves a combination of caution, expertise, and diligence. It’s essential to prioritise the safety and confidentiality of sensitive information while taking proactive steps to address and mitigate security threats.
