In what looks like a typical attribute of demagogues, six members of the Federal House of Representatives of Ondo State extraction, namely, Adesida Abiodun Cornelius (Akure North/South), Timehin Adelegbe (Owo/Ose), Festus Ayodele (Ileoluji-Okeigbo/Odigbo), Ojogo Donald (Ilaje/Ese-Odo), Odimayo Okunjimi (Okitipupa/Irele), and Adegboyega Adefarati (Akoko South West/South East, in a petition purportedly sent to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu accused the Ondo State Governor, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa of exhibiting disdain for his predecessor, the late Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, among other frivolous accusations.
These men, whose primary responsibilities in Abuja, should be the representation and advancement of the interests of their various constituents, also claimed, that since he swearing-in of Mr Aiyedatiwa as the governor of Ondo State, he has made series of decisions that indicated his animosity towards the late Arakunrin Akeredolu. What a way to be message couriers, for the dead?
In recent days, a reprehensible act of desperation, has unfolded within the political landscape of Ondo State, the latest, being the Six members of the House of Representatives from the state, attempting to manipulate and blackmail Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa before President Bola Tinubu. This egregious display of desperation, not only tarnishes the integrity of those involved but also undermines their believe in the principles of democracy.
These House of Representatives members in question, purportedly representing the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the interests of Ondo State, have deviated from their sworn duty to serve the people with honesty and integrity. Instead, they have chosen to engage in underhanded tactics, seeking personal gain at the expense of the state’s stability and progress.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, having been entrusted with the responsibility of leading Ondo State towards prosperity, has been targeted unjustly by these individuals, whose actions serve only to disrupt the peace and development initiatives of his administration. Their attempt to besmirch his reputation before President Bola Tinubu is not only an act of treachery but also a grave disservice to the people they claim to represent.
It is evident that these representatives have forsaken the values of loyalty and patriotism, choosing instead to prioritize their own interests and ambitions. Their false pretense of love for the APC and Ondo State is nothing more than a facade, as their actions betray a blatant disregard for the welfare of the party and its constituents.
It is also important, that the APC leadership in Ondo State, dissociate itself and condemn the actions of these men, who have constituted themselves, into a group of Pontus Pilates, bringing Governor Aiyedatiwa into judgement, before President Bola Tinubu, unequivocally and take appropriate disciplinary measures to restore confidence in the party’s integrity.
Furthermore, the people of Ondo State deserve representatives who are committed to their well-being and who prioritize the advancement of the state above personal vendettas and political maneuvering. It is incumbent upon the electorate to hold their elected officials to the highest standards of accountability and to demand transparency and integrity in governance.
Finally, let it be restated, that the attempt by these Six members of the House of Representatives from Ondo State to blackmail Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is a shameful betrayal of trust and a stark reminder of the dangers posed by self-serving individuals in positions of power. Their actions must be condemned in the strongest possible terms, and steps must be taken to ensure that such behavior is not tolerated in our democratic society. Only through upholding the principles of honesty, integrity, and loyalty can we truly achieve progress and prosperity for all.
May Ondo State Sun Shine Again…
