Oke Umurhohwo, Marketing Manager for West Africa 1 at itel, was named the “Innovative Marketing Personality of the Year” at the 16th annual Africa Beacon of ICT (ABoICT) Awards held in Lagos last Saturday.
The ABoICT Awards are widely regarded as the most prestigious annual event in Nigeria’s ICT industry. This year’s theme focused on “Artificial Intelligence: The Good, The Complex and The Anticipated,” drawing top government officials, politicians, and captains of the ICT and financial sectors.
The rebranded 2024 Africa’s Beacon of ICT Merit and Leadership Distinguished Lecture/Awards Series took place on May 25th at the Four Points by Sheraton in Lagos. According to Ken Nwogbo, Editor-in-Chief of organizers Nigeria CommunicationsWeek, “This special 16th edition celebrates organizations and individuals distinguished for innovative service delivery in the ICT industry.”
Umurhohwo’s award recognizes his outstanding leadership in marketing for the mobile device brand itel across West Africa. His innovative strategies have helped itel capture significant market share and brand affinity, especially among the youth demographic.
The veteran marketing leader graciously accepted the honour, stating, “I share this award with my entire team at itel whose hard work and creativity made this possible. We will continue redefining the mobile experience for consumers across Africa.”
