Asue Ighodalo, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has taken an early lead as results from various polling units across the state continue to trickle in.
Reports published online show that the PDP has secured victories in hundreds of polling units.
According to verified reports, Ighodalo is winning in Oredo, Ikpoba-Okha, and Egor Local Government Areas.
At several polling units, supporters of the PDP could be seen celebrating the results, with some expressing confidence that the momentum would carry Ighodalo through to a final victory.
“We have been on the ground, and it’s clear that the people want a leader who will prioritize development and progress. Asue Ighodalo is that leader, and the results are showing that the people trust him,” said a PDP supporter at a polling unit in Oredo LGA.
Political analysts observing the election have noted that the PDP’s strategy of consolidating its strongholds in Edo South and Edo Central is paying off, as Ighodalo continues to secure wins in the two senatorial districts.
Official results are expected to be announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as soon as they are verified.
