Days After INEC Office Invasion, APC Thugs Storm Edo Election Petition Tribunal

Chaos erupted at the Edo State Election Petition Tribunal on Saturday, October 12, as thugs affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC), attempted to disrupt proceedings.

Eyewitnesses say their mission was to stop the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from filing its petition regarding the recent election.

This came just days after APC thugs had similarly stormed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office, blocking the PDP from inspecting the crucial BVAS machines.

Unknown to the APC thugs, the PDP had already filed their petition the day before, on Friday, October 10.

Upon arriving at the tribunal, the thugs were said to have found the offices locked.

“Confused and frustrated, they turned to the gateman, who informed them that no one was inside since it was a Saturday, they left the premises in visible disappointment,” an eyewitness revealed.

The move is seen as yet another failed attempt by the APC to hinder the PDP’s legal efforts.

The APC has continued to rely on brute force even before the September 21st governorship election, while security agencies look away.

Meanwhile, the Edo State Election Petition Tribunal will be a focal point in the coming weeks as the PDP presses forward with its case.

Legal fireworks are expected from the tribunal after the PDP’s lawyers filed the case on Friday.
