Akufo-Addo’s ADC Collapses During Final State Of Nation Address

Colonel Isaac Amponsah, the personal security guard and Aide-De-Camp (ADC) to Ghanaian President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, collapsed in the Parliament on Friday, during the President’s final State of the Nation Address.

The incident, in a video, seen by SaharaReporters showed Col. Amponsah groaning and appearing visibly unwell while standing behind the President.

However, moments later, he collapsed as Akufo-Addo stopped addressing Parliament.

Parliamentarians and security aides quickly intervened, rushing to his aid and escorting him to a seat.

GhanaWeb reports that Colonel Amponsah, the President’s Aide-de-Camp (ADC) since February 2023, experienced a medical emergency while the President was addressing Parliament.

Colonel Amponsah took over from Major-General Bismark Onwona, who was reassigned as the Commandant of the Training and Doctrine Command at the Ghana Armed Forces.

Before his appointment as the President’s ADC, Colonel Amponsah held significant roles, including Chief Instructor at the Military Training Academy and a position with the Defence Intelligence Unit at the General Headquarters.

Having served in several senior positions, Colonel Amponsah had been promoted to the rank of Colonel prior to his current role.

However, it was later confirmed that after the incident, he regained consciousness and was seen being escorted out of the chamber.
