The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has approved the deployment of some Deputy Commissioners of Police including DCP Adegboyega Oyeleye, from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Ilorin, Kwara State, to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
SaharaReporters learnt that DCP Oyeleye’s transfer was sequel to the torturing to death by policemen under his watch of a suspect, identified as Mr Jimoh Abdulquadri.
SaharaReporters had in December reported that Abdulquadri reportedly died while in detention at the Kwara State Police Command, after he was tortured by police officers.
Accorsing to a police signal obtained by SaharaReporters, the DCP was transferred to the investment department of logistics and supplies at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
Speaking further, a highly placed source also confirmed that Adegboyega Oyeleye was transferred from SCID, Ilorin, because of the suspect who died in the police cell.
“That is the same police officer who wanted to allegedly offer a N8million bribe,” the source added.

SaharaReporters had reported that Abdulquadri reportedly died while in detention at the Kwara State Police Command.
SaharaReporters learnt that Abdulquadri was brought in for questioning regarding an alleged case of obtaining N220,000 under false pretences.
Confirming the incident in a statement released by the command spokesperson, Ejire-Adeyemi Toun, said the command launched an investigation into the incident to ascertain the cause of Abdulquadri’s death.
