Abuja Lawyer Facing Trial for Illegal Eviction Cries Out

Victor Giwa, an Abuja-based lawyer currently facing trial at the FCT High Court on a nine-count charge of illegal eviction, malicious damage, and other serious offenses, has written to the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), the Body of Benchers, and the Chief Judge of the FCT. In his letter, he alleges that the nominal complainant in his case is colluding to have him jailed.

It will be recalled that in June 2024, the NBA Election Appeal Committee disqualified Victor Giwa from contesting for the position of branch chairman due to allegations of misconduct and a pending criminal charge.

Giwa is now calling on the aforementioned legal bodies to intervene in his case.

Notably, in June 2024, Victor Giwa, through his law firm, sent a letter to the Attorney General impersonating the revered learned silk, Awa U. Kalu, SAN, pleading for a postponement of his arraignment. The letter was forwarded to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), for a thorough investigation on alleged forgery, impersonation, and attempts to pervert the course of justice.

Given the seriousness of the allegations against him, Victor Giwa is advised to focus on defending himself in court and refrain from any further attempts to obstruct justice.
