An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan has ordered the remand of Moyosore Johnson, a 55-year-old fake doctor, in a correctional centre after he was accused of causing the death of a woman during a surgical procedure.
Johnson, whose address was not provided, was arraigned on a four-count charge, including conspiracy and accelerating the cause of death. Magistrate Kausarat Ayofe did not take Johnson’s plea, citing a lack of jurisdiction. She directed the police to forward the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for further advice.
The case has been adjourned until March 27 for mention.
According to the Prosecutor, Insp. Segun Adegboye, the incident occurred on July 5, 2024, at Apata Igbala Hospital in Iseyin, Oyo State. Adegboye alleged that Johnson, posing as a medical professional, performed surgery on 26-year-old Badirat Adebayo, during which he unlawfully removed her womb. This act is believed to have contributed to her death.
The charges against Johnson contravene Sections 516 and 319 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
