
ABUJA MUNICIPAL AREA COUNCIL (AMAC) PRESS STATEMENT:
INCIDENT REPORT: ALLEGED ASSAULT ON AMAC STAFF BY SUSPECTED MILITARY OFFICER
The Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) is shocked and disturbed by a recent incident involving one of AMAC staff members under the mobile advertisement unit at AP Plaza at Wuse 2 and a suspected military officer.
On 2nd of May 2025, about 1pm, AMAC staff members were allegedly assaulted by the individual with tear gas and a harmful object while carrying out official duties within the council’s jurisdiction.
AMAC as a government vehemently condemns this act of violence and demands a thorough and transparent investigation into the matter.
“We are working closely with the relevant authorities, including the military and law enforcement agencies, to ensure that the perpetrator is brought to justice and made to face the full weight of the law.
“The safety and well-being of AMAC staff members are of utmost importance to the council.
“We will not tolerate any form of harassment, intimidation, or assault on our personnel while they are carrying out their official duties.
“The council is committed to creating a safe and secure working environment for all its employees.
“We urge members of the public who may have witnessed or have information about this incident to come forward and report to the appropriate authorities.
“We also call on the public to report any similar incidents of harassment or assault involving council staff or any other individuals to the relevant authorities.
“The AMAC is committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that all individuals within its jurisdiction are treated with dignity and respect. We will continue to work tirelessly to promote peace, security, and development in the Abuja Municipal Area”.
