Residents of Mogede Quarters in Ibafo, Ogun State, say they’ve endured 22 years of erratic power supply, with IBEDC only providing around 24 hours of electricity each month. Despite purchasing transformers and other equipments for their community, residents still suffer from lack of electricity.
Angered by the chronic blackout, residents have taken to the streets in protest, calling on the government and the power company to restore stable electricity. They warn that without reliable power, their livelihoods, safety, and well-being remain at serious risk.
However, the head of technical services IBEDC when contacted, stated that the current limitations are primarily due to constrained energy allocations from the Oke-Aro 132kV/33kV Transmission station.
