
LONDON, June 2025 – Nigerian lawmaker and entrepreneur, Hon. Akin Alabi, has added another academic milestone to his name, graduating with a Master of Arts in International Relations from Middlesex University, Hendon, London.

His postgraduate dissertation, titled “Domestication and Implementation of International Laws in a Dualist State: Case of Nigeria,” examined the challenges and opportunities in translating international legal obligations into enforceable domestic law. The research drew praise from academic supervisors for its clarity, policy relevance, and insight into Nigeria’s legal framework.
This new achievement adds to Alabi’s impressive academic credentials. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Politics and International Relations from Lead City University, Ibadan, and a Higher National Diploma in Business Administration from The Polytechnic, Ibadan. He also earned a Master’s degree in Marketing from the University of Liverpool and completed an executive certificate in Intellectual Property Strategy at Harvard University.
Speaking after the graduation, Hon. Alabi remarked, “Pursuing this degree has deepened my understanding of how international legal norms interact with national sovereignty and lawmaking. I intend to apply these insights to help strengthen Nigeria’s legal and institutional capacity for treaty implementation.”
Alabi, who represents Egbeda/Ona Ara Federal Constituency in the Nigerian House of Representatives, is well known for his work on legislative reform, youth empowerment, and entrepreneurship. His academic accomplishments reflect a commitment to lifelong learning and a desire to bring scholarly rigor to public service.
The graduation ceremony, held on campus in Hendon, brought together a diverse cohort of students from around the world, further highlighting Middlesex University’s international outlook.
