Wike Gave His Son 99% Discount for N200m Abuja Land, Ireti Kingibe Reveals

Ireti Kingibe, the senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has claimed that Nyesom Wike, Minister of the FCT, allocated land to his son at a 99% discount.

video of her interview with Arise TV began trending on Friday with a 43-second clip of her repeating that she had proof to show that land allocations worth N200 million were given to Wike’s son for N2 million.

The video sparked reactions on microblogging platform X as some Nigerians asked if she had proof. Others decried the situation.

One commenter, @tsetseSBM, said, “If Wike truly slashed a N200 million land bill to N2 million for his son, then it’s not leadership; it’s nepotism in broad daylight. Na why people no trust the system.

Samuel Dominic @PoductivityVA wrote, “This country isn’t broke, it’s just rigged for the sons of the gatekeepers.”

In the circulating video, Kingibe says, “I have documents to show that Minister Wike allocated land to his son, huge tracts of land, as he says. As his son, they are entitled to lands, but the bills of N200 million that they need to pay and a hundred million that they need to pay elsewhere, they wrote to him asking that he give a waiver on the bill and reduce it.

“Within 48 hours, they are going from N200 million to N2 million. At the very least, it is unfair; it is unethical.”

Her claim comes after a June 26 Peoples Gazette report claiming Wike allocated 2,000 hectares of land to Joaoquin, his second son.

Wike and Kingibe have engaged in public disagreements over their roles in the FCT and the direction of the territory’s administration.
