Ondo Governor’s Aide Cautions Against Factional Activities in APC, Reaffirms Support for Tinubu’s 2027 Re-Election
The Senior Special Assistant to the Executive Governor of Ondo State on Public Enlightenment, Comrade Olufemi Lawson, has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to close ranks and work in unity under the leadership of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking during an interaction with journalists over the weekend, Comrade Lawson addressed recent reports of activities by various political platforms and interest groups within the Ondo State chapter of the APC, purportedly mobilizing support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
According to Lawson, the APC Constitution, convention, and political tradition clearly vest the leadership of the party in any state on the serving governor, just as the President remains the apex leader of the party nationwide.
“We are not unaware of the attempts by some politicians within the party, to create an unnecessary impression of a division in the APC, through their activities under the guise of mobilizing support for President Tinubu towards 2027, while deliberately undermining the existing political order in the state,” he said.
The governor’s aide reaffirmed that Governor Aiyedatiwa remains the custodian of the APC political structure in Ondo State. He stressed that there should be no desperation in rallying support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid, as Ondo State has consistently proven to be one of the most politically conscious states and a strong support base for the President.
“As demonstrated in previous elections, Ondo State will continue to return one of the highest numbers of votes for President Tinubu. What is needed now is alignment and discipline within the party, not unnecessary theatrics,” Lawson noted.
He urged all political actors within the APC to avoid any actions capable of creating a negative impression of a divided party and to channel their energy towards working with the Governor to deliver a resounding victory for President Tinubu in 2027, while prioritizing the overall development of Ondo State.
