PRESS RELEASE

Abuja, Nigeria — October 31, 2025.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, PhD, GCON, has appointed Prince Folaseke Olakulehin, son of the immediate past Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, the late Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, as Senior Legislative Aide.

Prince Olakulehin, a distinguished son of Ibadanland, brings a wealth of experience in governance and public administration to his new role. He previously served as a Special Adviser to the former President of the Senate, Senator Ahmed Lawan, and was also an aide to the late former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.

In his appointment letter, Speaker Abbas Tajudeen congratulated Prince Olakulehin and charged him to perform creditably, urging him to bring his experience, integrity, and commitment to bear in the service of the National Assembly and the Nigerian people. The Speaker expressed confidence that the new aide would contribute meaningfully to the effective functioning of the 10th House of Representatives.

Reacting to the development, Hon. Akin Alabi, Member representing Egbeda/Ona Ara Federal Constituency of Oyo State, described the appointment as “a round peg in a round hole.” He commended the Speaker for recognizing competence and experience, noting that Prince Olakulehin’s track record of service makes him well suited for the position.

The appointment has been warmly received in Ibadan and across Oyo State, with many describing it as a recognition of the city’s enduring influence in national politics and a tribute to the legacy of the late Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.
