Mobilizing Support To Consolidate The Gains Of Good Governance By Seyi Makinde Administration- By Comrade Oladoja Olushola

It is very clear that, as citizens, we are responsible for the kind of leaders that we choose to represent and deliver governance to us. Beyond citizen participation, performing democracies are built through effective leadership, particularly one that delivers outcomes that favour the overall good of the vast majority of the population. The drive to serve and make impacts should always be at the centre of any kind of leadership, whether political, religious, traditional, or secular.

These past weeks, I received calls and messages from well-meaning members of my constituency, Afijio LGA, to run as their representative in the State House of Assembly. This call, for me, reflected a clear privilege and recognition of the value that I would bring to their lives through representative leadership, aligning with the numerous impactful programs implemented by His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, to deliver good governance to the good people of Oyo State.

However, after extensive consultations with stakeholders and relevant elders across all quarters, I have decided to put on hold my ambition to run for office as the representative of the great people of Afijio in the Oyo State House of Assembly in the 2023 General Election. Nevertheless, I am throwing my full weight behind and support behind the second term agenda of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, as Governor of Oyo State for another 4 years. I, therefore, call on my supporters and the initiators of my call to support this move for the betterment of our people. I made this choice because of the visionary and distinctive leadership and visible achievements of our indefatigable Governor. Some of the outcomes that informed my support for his second term include:

  • Provision of free tuition fees & textbooks and learning equipments to students.
  • Facilitating the sole ownership of LAUTECH to Oyo State, mitigating the perennial operational challenges that the institution of learning has faced over the years.
  • Upgraded Alayande College of Education to University Status.

  • Empowered 10,000 youths Agribusiness training in A Tech Farm in Nasarawa State.

These achievements within 4 fours are numerous, considering the antecedence of leadership that Oyo State had in the past, and the quality of leadership and governance outcomes that were delivered. As a progressive mind, I love to align with progressive, forward-thinking, and people-centred leadership, hence, influencing my choice to support the return of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, to the Government House to consolidate on the gains and giants strides that his administration is making across Oyo State. I am convinced that our amiable Governor has the interest of the people at heart and will work tirelessly to improve the quality of life and standards of the great people of Oyo State.

On this note, I call on the great people of Oyo State, particularly my supporters, to support the second term agenda of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, to guarantee the continuation of impeccable service delivery through governance and leadership. And I know for a surety, that God has given us victory.
