As the APC reel under the crushing weight of a moral burden today, they might well be reminded that ” Conscience is an open wound that only truth can heal” (Uthman Dan Fodio). It will do them good to reflect on their activities of September 21 and 22 this year. They will serve their souls well, if they would ask themselves whether they are on the side of Right or Wrong; whether Heaven is smiling or frowning at them.
Amidst the facade of forced smiles, manufactured glib talks and back stabs, sorry, slaps, they should listen whether a still small voice is not saying in their consciences: ” You be thief”… Forcefully and audaciously seizing from another what is not yours can never legitimise it to you; no matter how long you keep it. You are still not “Legit” to use the language of the boys!
APC would not like this kind of literary discourse, but APC cannot obliterate Reality! Humans are moral beings. We all owe it a duty to ourselves to maintain the bold line between right and wrong. And be loud enough to emphasize the difference. I cannot rejoice with APC, just as I cannot with ‘419ers’!
There is a moral question? Should our society accept the principle of forcefully stealing from others what belongs to them and keeping it to ourselves as our own? If your answer is No! Then you want sanity, peace and justice! You are a part of humanity! If your answer is yes; you are APC! Another Problem that has Come!
Those who cheat to get admission into school, cheat through school. A cheat government cannot be different! The great Chief Edokpolo of blessed memory was seminal in that philosophy: ” a rogue is a rogue” he had postulated. He was right!
The world is returning to morality! Edo cannot now begin the catastrophic journey in the opposite direction. Emphasizing Abortion rights and promoting abominations like LGBT in the name of Liberty, did not do it for Kamala Harris in the just concluded USA Presidential election. America has had its fair share of perversion and wanted someone closer to humanity: raw and down to earth!
So all these patchwork of the APC: begging the question on morality, electoral propriety, true rule of law etc are fast approaching their Waterloo! Political thinkers, highly credible Civil Society Activists, Democracy watchers and Development experts are all unanimous that what is wrong about the Edo State election must be righted, if Nigeria’s democracy will survive. And they are not just talking! There is action in the mix. No sub national election in recent times have enlisted such popular and prolific interest as the Edo Guber election.
The issues troubling such groups as: Yiaga Africa, Sam Amadi of the Abuja School of Political Thought, TAP Initiative, CDD etc, do not call for the kind of hollow celebrations that we will be seeing today (let us hope it remains only hollow and not harrowing. Our friends are not averse to unleashing terror on Edo people).
The APC has a moral question to answer. The Tribunal is a legal question. After all the reggae and the booze, they will return to bed tonight to meet Conscience. And it has only one question, a moral one: ” You be thief?”
