Aproko Doctor Raises Alarm Over Deteriorating Healthcare Centers In Nigeria

Nigerian medical professional Chinonso Egemba, popularly known as Aproko Doctor, has raised serious concerns about the poor state of primary healthcare centers across the country.

In a video shared on Monday, he highlighted the deplorable conditions of many health facilities, emphasizing the risks posed to women and newborns due to the substandard state of these centers. According to him, the environment, which should provide a safe and reassuring space for childbirth, is instead fraught with challenges that endanger lives.

He further lamented the lack of essential medical supplies necessary to improve childbirth experiences. Adding to this, an employee at one of the facilities revealed that during nighttime deliveries, the absence of electricity forces women to rely on the torch lights from their phones.

Aproko Doctor called on the government to prioritize the renovation and proper equipping of primary healthcare centers, which he described as the foundation of any effective healthcare system. He stressed that the issue transcends individual medical practitioners and is a collective problem that requires all Nigerians to demand better healthcare standards.

“Our leaders can and should do better,” he stated, adding, “Primary healthcare centers are the backbone of any serious country’s healthcare system. It is our responsibility as citizens to push for improved healthcare services.”
