Says He’s Fulfilling Prophecy
he General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has called for the immediate release of popular TikToker Olumide Ogunsanwo, widely known as “SeaKing,” who was re-arrested on Thursday on the Lagos State court premises.
Speaking during a church programme on Friday, February 7, Adeboye distanced himself from the arrest, stating that some individuals angered by Seaking’s remarks took it upon themselves to take action.
He urged the Nigerian police to release the social media influencer, saying, “Seaking is fulfilling prophecy.”
SeaKing, who was initially arrested over allegations of cyberbullying, was taken to Abuja following his re-arrest.
Adeboye, however, clarified that he had no involvement in the matter.
The general overseer said, “I heard that someone lambasted me thoroughly. What is my offence? Because I asked my people to fast for 100 days? I didn’t ask him. I didn’t even ask anyone who isn’t a member of the Redeemed Christian Church of God to fast—only my children! God said it would happen.
“I was told that some people got angry and went to arrest the fellow. Release him. He is fulfilling prophecy,” he said.
On February 7, SaharaReporters reported that human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, expressed his disappointment and concern over the decline of the Nigeria Police Force, describing it as “disheartening, disgusting, and frightening.”
The statement comes after Sowore’s meeting with Ogunsanwo, more commonly known as Seaking, who was allegedly kidnapped by police officers from Lagos to Abuja.
Sowore’s team, including lawyers Adeyanju Deji and Marshal D F Abubakar, met with the Federal Investigation Department (FID) of the Nigeria Police Force to discuss Olumide’s ordeal.
They were informed that Olumide’s arrest was due to alleged cyberbullying against Pastor E.A. Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) according to Sowore on his X handle.
The police had claimed that a petition was submitted by Paul James Adama, representing a Christian association, on behalf of Pastor Adeboye.
However, Sowore questioned how a TikTok video could be considered bullying or threats to someone as prominent and protected as Pastor Adeboye.
The Nigerian Police Force faces numerous challenges, including institutional, structural, and operational issues.
The challenges have contributed to the decline of the police force and the erosion of trust between law enforcement and the public.
Sowore’s concerns highlight the need for reform and accountability within the Nigerian Police Force.
In the post, Sowore had stated: “We just departed the DIG Dasuki Galandanchi led Federal Investigation Department (FID) of the Nigeria Police Force @PoliceNG, where we met Olumide Ogunsanwo aka @seaking303, he was in the company of police officers who had travelled to Lagos to kidnap him. @adeyanjudeji Deji and Marshal D F Abubakar were present as lawyers representing @seaking303 and standing in for @InibeheEffiong!
“To our surprise, they disclosed that Olumide’s recent ordeal resulted from alleged cyberbullying against Pastor E.A. Adeboye, @PastorEAAdeboye the General Overseer of the @rccghq Redeemed Christian Church of God, in a Tik
