Nigeria Showcases Gas Potential at Gastech 2025 in Milan

Nigeria made a strong impression on the opening day of the 2025 Gas Technology Exhibition & Conference (Gastech) in Milan, with key figures from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) and the federal government engaging global energy leaders to highlight the country’s vast natural gas opportunities.

During a Ministerial Session titled The New Energy Imperatives: Security & Resilience in a Volatile Global Market, the Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, emphasized Nigeria’s significant untapped natural gas reserves, estimated at 210 trillion cubic feet.

He underscored the nation’s commitment to harnessing this potential to boost both exports and domestic use, driving industrialization and economic growth. “Nigeria is poised to unlock its gas resources to fuel economic prosperity and meet global energy demands,” Ekpo stated.

In a separate segment, NNPC Ltd.’s Group CEO, Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, participated in an Energy Talk session titled Nigeria’s Natural Gas Moment: Delivering At Home & Abroad. Fielding questions from NBC’s Hala Gorani, Ojulari called on international investors to seize the “huge opportunities” in Nigeria’s energy sector. He highlighted the country’s strategic efforts to enhance gas production and distribution for both local and global markets.

The presence of Nigeria’s delegation at Gastech 2025 underscores the nation’s ambition to position itself as a key player in the global energy landscape, leveraging its abundant natural gas resources to attract investment and foster sustainable development.
