Police Arrest Dr. Robert Anya Nkata Over Alleged Fraud

ABUJA, Nigeria – October 6, 2025:
The Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) has arrested a security consultant identified as Dr. Roberts Anya Nkata over alleged involvement in a case of fraud currently under investigation by the Nigeria Police.

According to police sources, Dr. Nkata, the CEO of Pragmatic Security Concerns and Consults Ltd, was taken into custody after investigators uncovered documents allegedly linking him to certain irregular activities involving financial and administrative transactions.

This follows a petition written by Igwenagu O. Ngene & Associates, legal representatives of Mrs. Ngozi Appolonia Edeh-Anih, The petition, dated 26th August 2025, accuses Dr. Nkata and Mrs. Edeh-Omego of several criminal activities, including misrepresentation and conspiracy connected to the burial of the late Chief Stephen Edeh.

The petition alleges that while the family of the deceased was planning a burial in March 2025, Mrs. Edeh-Omego introduced Dr. Nkata as a family friend from Abiriba, Abia State. However, subsequent actions allegedly revealed a pattern of deceit and financial misappropriation.

The petitioner alleged that ₦25 million, set aside by the burial expenses was embezzled by Dr. Nkata without authorization. Attempts by Mrs. Edeh-Anih to recover the funds were reportedly met with intimidation and physical assault by armed men allegedly recruited by Dr. Nkata, with the alleged connivance of Mrs. Edeh-Omego.

The petition also claims that both suspects have made threatening statements, boasting of connections to the Eastern Security Network (ESN) and IPOB, and allegedly expressing intentions to harm or kill the complainant.

Calling for a “discreet but urgent investigation,” Barrister Igwenagu O. Ngene, who signed the petition, urged the IGP to ensure justice is served and the complainant’s life and property are protected.

The police said the suspect is currently assisting the FCID with ongoing investigations, while further details will be made public upon completion of preliminary inquiries.

It was also gathered that the investigation may extend to other individuals believed to be connected to the matter. However, as of press time, the police had not released the names of any additional suspects.

When contacted, the petitioner declined to comment, saying the matter was being handled by law enforcement agencies.

A senior police official who spoke under anonymity said, “The Force CID has commenced a full-scale investigation into the allegations. The suspect is cooperating, and updates will be communicated through official channels.”

Authorities have urged members of the public to refrain from speculating until investigations are concluded, assuring that justice will be served based on verified evidence.
