Group of past Legislative councils leaders distance self from group rejecting alleged intentions of Gov Mutfwang decamping to the APC

A group operating under the umbrella body of Conference of the Immediate past Legislative Council leaders in Plateau state on Friday said it’s attention has been drawn to the activities of a certain group known as the Immediate Past Councillors Forum of Plateau State under the leadership of one Hon. John Dashe purporting to reject the rumoured decampment of Governor Manasseh Caleb Mutfwang to the APC.

The statement which was jointly signed by Rt. Hon. Damar Yaksun ,Rt. Hon. Fom Wash Toma and Hon. Eng. Samuel Azi Former leaders of Qua’anpan Legislative Arm, Barkin Ladi Legislative Arm Jos East Legislative Arm respectively said “We wish to unequivocally distance ourselves from the said press conference where in they joined other APC groups to reject Governor Mutfwang from joining the APC.

According to them “This we do for the following reasons “The press conference was made without due consultation with members and thus does not reflect the collective view of our organisation.

They added that ” The press conference does not reflect the priorities of our Association even by a simple majority and appropriate channels for reaching such a decision

They also said due process was not followed.

The statement reads in parts “As a body of respected grassroot politicians, we operate collaboratively, not in isolation, with the core aim of connecting our people to opportunities that enhance their lives while promoting the ideology of our esteemed party, the APC.”

“As progressive party in West Africa, the APC stands and focuses on bringing more willing people to its fold for societal growth and development.”

” In summary, we believe it is time for all Nigerians to come together. “

” Through the power of unity, we can confront the insecurity that threatens our shared existence as a nation. We firmly believe that our great party, the APC, serves as the umbrella capable of uniting us all. We are proud to be part of this movement.”

” We however want to make a sincere appeal,One which we know is a collective agitation among members of our Association.”

Thus we call on the Governor of Plateau State to compassionately consider in favour of all former councillors thus,
Our members were untimely relieved of their constitutional duties on the 2nd June, 2023. “

“Since then about 15 members of our Association have died due to difficulties and challenges which may have been otherwise if they were able to meet their financial obligations.

“We hereby call on the Mr. Governor to look into the plight of our members and graciously settle us our outstanding entitlements.”

“We wish to restate that we remain committed to the manifesto and vision of the APC as a political party.”

They added that ” We remain committed to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and consider ourselves, ambassadors of the current administration. “

“We use this opportunity to declare our support for Bola Ahmed Tinubu come 2027 and call on all lovers of Nigeria to join the train. The GATES ARE OPEN and we will not discriminate.”

The group lamented the insecurity in the Nation and called on security operatives to do everything possible to tackle the challenges.

“Our hearts first of all goes out to the entire citizens of our beloved country as we continue to grapple with heightened insecurity with children suffering abduction in the hand of marauding bandits while military personnel have suffered great loses.”they further added.
