REJOINDER: IN DEFENCE OF SENATOR RABIU MUSA KWANKWASO AND MR. PETER OBI

We have taken note of a misleading and ill-motivated statement credited to one Dr. Agbo Major, who falsely parades himself as the National Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP). For the avoidance of doubt and in the interest of truth, Dr. Agbo Major is NOT a member of NNPP and has long been expelled from the party. His persistent attempt to speak for NNPP is shameful, irresponsible, and deceptive.

It is therefore laughable and unfortunate that a person with no standing, no mandate, and no membership status in NNPP would arrogate to himself the authority to disparage the leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and to issue reckless warnings to Mr. Peter Obi.

Let it be clearly stated:
Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso remains one of the most formidable grassroots political leaders in Nigeria today, particularly in Kano State and across the North-West. The Kwankwasiyya Movement is not a media illusion; it is a tested mass movement that has produced governors, senators, members of the National Assembly, and thousands of elected officials over the years. The attempt to trivialize its electoral value is either borne out of ignorance or deliberate mischief.

Equally, Mr. Peter Obi commands a nationwide organic followership driven by conviction, sacrifice, and a genuine desire for a New Nigeria. The Obedient Movement has reshaped political participation in Nigeria and remains one of the most influential civic-political forces in the country.

Any conversation around collaboration, alliance, or joint ticket between Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso should therefore be viewed through the lens of national interest, unity, and strategic convergence, not personal bitterness or expired ambitions. Nigeria’s challenges demand bridge-building, not ego-driven isolation.

The attempt by Dr. Agbo Major to sow distrust between the Obedient Movement and the Kwankwasiyya Movement is dead on arrival. Nigerians are wiser than that. Both movements are powered by the people, not by self-appointed spokespersons or political impostors.

On the issue of party leadership, it must also be emphasized that NNPP has clear constitutional structures, and leadership is not assumed by press releases. Court references, half-truths, and selective narratives cannot replace legitimacy, internal democracy, and party consensus.

Finally, we consider it deeply disrespectful for an expelled individual to lecture nationally respected leaders such as Kwankwaso and Peter Obi on humility, integrity, or political relevance. Nigerians know the difference between leaders with followership and voices without constituency.

We therefore:

Reaffirm our confidence in Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as a national political force.

Express unwavering respect for Mr. Peter Obi and the Obedient Movement.

Completely disassociate NNPP from Dr. Agbo Major and his claims.

Call on Nigerians to ignore impostors and merchants of division.

The future of Nigeria lies in credible leadership, strategic alliances, and the will of the people—not in the noise of those who have been rejected by the very platforms they claim to represent.

Enough of the deception. Nigerians deserve better.

Signed:
Amb. Augustine Uzorma Okolie
Kwankwasiyya Faithful
