CRISIS ROCKS APC’s IDEMILI NORTH AND SOUTH FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY TICKET AS PRIMARIES DESCEND INTO CHAOS

A deep political crisis has enveloped the candidature for Anambra APC Idemili North and South Federal Constituency of Anambra State following widespread allegations of electoral fraud, intimidation, and the deliberate non-conduct of party primaries in most wards across both local government areas ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The development has sparked outrage among party faithful and aspirants who accuse key party operatives of brazenly subverting the will of members at the grassroots level.

Leading the chorus of condemnation is Honourable Chimbudike Igboekwe, one of three aspirants who vied for the constituency’s House of Representatives ticket. Igboekwe leveled serious allegations against one of the opponents and alleged winner, KK Ezekwelu, accusing him of seizing result sheets meant for wards within both local governments and retreating to a hotel in Awka, where he allegedly entered results that bore no relation to actual voting patterns recorded in the wards.

“What happened was a daylight robbery,” Igboekwe declared. “KK Ezekwelu took away the result sheets for both LGAs and retired to a hotel in Awka to manufacture results completely incongruent with the voting tendencies in the wards. This is a complete desecration of democratic principles. We have in our kitty enormous evidence to prove beyond all reasonable doubt that elections did not hold in this constituency.”

Particularly alarming were events in Idemili North, where result sheets were reportedly diverted to Umuoji rather than the designated collation center in Ogidi for distribution. When outraged youths mobilized to compel the returning officer to conduct the exercise properly, the official reportedly fled the scene with the result sheets, effectively disenfranchising party members who had turned out in good faith for the exercise.

Igboekwe also expressed deep dismay at the deployment of thugs and soldiers to enforce what he described as a fraudulent exercise, warning that he would pursue every available legal and administrative remedy.

“I will challenge this anomaly at every level provided by the party constitution and the Nigerian legal system,” he vowed. “No one should be allowed to use violence and manipulation to steal what belongs to the people.”

Efforts to get the official responses from the state chapter of the party failed as messages sent to a number of party officials were neither acknowledged nor replied.
