Best of Nigerians Are in ADC, Atiku Declares

OSOGBO, Aug. 11, 2026 —

Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has declared that “the best of Nigerians” are either members or sympathisers of the ADC.

Atiku made the declaration in Osogbo, Osun State, during the official flag-off of the ADC governorship campaign and the presentation of the party’s candidate, Hon. Najeem Salaam, on Monday, ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

He said Nigerians across political, ethnic and social divides, who are dissatisfied with what he described as the failure of leadership under the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration, were increasingly identifying with the ADC.

“The best of Nigerians are here in the ADC, either as members or sympathisers. They are united with us in their determination to bring forth good governance,” Atiku said.

The former Vice President urged Nigerians to rally behind the ADC, saying the party represents a platform for restoring good governance and addressing the challenges confronting the country.

Recalling his previous campaigns in Osun State, Atiku said the people had consistently supported his presidential ambition.

“Three times I had campaigned for votes on the rostrum of Osun. Each time, you had voted for me. I do not take this for granted,” he said.
Atiku attributed the support partly to his family ties with the state, noting that his wife is from Osun.

He also recalled that Osun voters supported him even when he contested the presidency against President Bola Tinubu, who hails from the state.

“I recall that even when I contested against Bola Tinubu, who is from here, you still gave me victory. I thank you for all your support,” he said.

Presenting the ADC governorship candidate to the people, Atiku urged voters to support Salaam at the polls.
“Please vote for our candidate, Hon. Najeem Salaam,” he appealed.
