Independence – Ambassador Daduut celebrates 6 Nigerians who won $2.29m Korean research grants

Six Nigerian students who secured research grants totalling $2.29 million from the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) have been honoured by Nigeria’s Ambassador to South Korea, Prof. Nora Ladi Daduut, during the country’s 66th Independence Anniversary celebration in Seoul.

The celebration, held at the weekend, brought together Nigerian families, students and friends of Nigeria in South Korea, with the students’ academic achievement and the Ambassador’s first 100 days in office among the highlights of the event.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Jos and signed by Daduut, the Ambassador said the celebration was low-key but colourful and provided an opportunity for Nigerians in South Korea to come together and celebrate Nigeria.

According to the statement, Daduut congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, , and commended his administration for its efforts towards developing and sustaining the country.
She said, “I congratulate and commend His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and his government for the progress made in developing and sustaining the country.”

According to her, the progress was being achieved through the administration’s strategic plan built around the four Ds — Demography, Development, Democracy and Diaspora.

She also called on Nigerians living in South Korea to uphold and project the good image of Nigeria through peaceful coexistence.”

Daduut said, “I call on all Nigerians in South Korea to uphold and project the good image of Nigeria through peaceful coexistence.”

The statement said the six Nigerian student researchers were presented with letters of commendation in recognition of their academic and research achievements, which Daduut said had made Nigeria proud.

The President of the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO), South Korea, Mr Anthony Achusim, congratulated President Tinubu on the occasion of the Independence Anniversary.

Achusim also congratulated Daduut on her milestones in her first 100 days in office and reiterated that there were great opportunities available to Nigerians in South Korea.

The President of the Nigerian Students Association (NSA) in South Korea, Dr Anis Rabiu, commended Nigerian students for their hard work and dedication, particularly the six researchers whose success brought recognition to the Nigerian community.

Rabiu also commended Daduut for her achievements since assuming office.

The statement added that the celebration featured a presentation on Daduut’s first 100 days in office, highlighting activities and milestones recorded since she assumed duty.

The event ended with a dinner featuring Nigerian dishes and music, as members of the Nigerian community and their guests celebrated the anniversary and the achievements of Nigerian students in South Korea.
