Convicted billionaire kidnapper Evans seeks plea bargain in fresh charges

Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, better known as Evans, and his co-defendant Joseph Emeka, charged with murder and attempted kidnapping have opted for the option of a plea bargain.

The state lead counsel, Mr Yusuf Sule, informed the court about the plea bargain option on Thursday when the case was called for re-arraignment.

The case was called for re-arraignment before Justice Adenike Cokers of an Ikeja High Court.

It was initially slated for re-arraignment on an amended five-count charge involving murder, attempted murder, and kidnapping conspiracy.

While Sule confirmed the plea bargain application, the prosecutor noted that the Attorney-General of Lagos State, Mr. Lawal Pedro, was deliberating on the terms proposed.

The notorious billionaire kidnapper, sentenced to life in prison for previous convictions, now navigates a plea bargain route in a bid to potentially mitigate his legal woes.
