Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has waded into the arrest of Chioma Egodi by police officers on the orders of Erisco Foods Limited.
Egodi was arrested after a post on Facebook where she complained of the excess sugar contents of the company’s tomato paste.
In a statement, the company described her review of the product as untrue.
Regarding her arrest, Babatunde Irukere, DG of FCCPC, said the agency’s operatives have confirmed her arrest and transfer to Abuja.
He wrote on X: “@fccpcnigeria operatives have confirmed arrest & transfer of the case to Abuja by the Police Force…
She was no longer at the station on arrival. Working to determine the exact current location & engaging Force HQ in Abuja. Summons being issued to @EriscoFoodsLtd immediately.”
