Lawyer Petitions IGP Egbetokun, Demands Justice For Client Ambushed, Brutally Attacked By Four Suspected Cultists In Calabar

Barrister P. B Aboh of a law firm, Goldminds Legal Consult, has demanded justice for his client, Ransome Anock Ojah, who was ambushed and brutally attacked and butchered to near death in Calabar, the Cross River State capital by four suspected cultists.

The lawyer petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, against the suspects identified as Mr. Godknows Aho Amatev; Mr. Sunday Aho Amatey; Mr. Ikenga Adem Erim; Mr. Annovu Sunday Aho, and Mr. Amatey Otei Amater.

The lawyer accused the suspects of attempted murder, conspiracy, and infliction of bodily harm on the victim.

In the petition written on behalf of the victim and his family member, Mordecai Anock Ojah, the lawyer said the suspects ambushed and attacked the victim with a machete and other dangerous weapons, leaving the victim currently in a critical condition.

According to the petition dated July 5, 2024 but obtained on Friday July 11, 2025 by SaharaReporters, on July 3, 2024, the victim was on his way to the farm when he was ambushed by one of the suspects, Erim, who was allegedly sent by the trio of Godknows, Sunday and Otei Amatey to “finish him off.”

Aboh further explained, “On July 2, 2024, the trio of Mr. Godknows Aho Amatey, Mr. Sunday Aho Amatey, and Mr. Ikenga Adem Erim, known cultists, held a meeting at Mr. GodknowsAho Amatey’s residence to plan the execution of this heinous act.

“During the meeting, they armed Mr. Ikenga Adem Erim with a gun and a machete, and assured him that nothing would happen, boasting that they control the village.

“Mr. Godknows Aho Amatey, an employee of the Accountant General’s office, further encouraged Mr. Ikenga Adem Erim by stating that he makes a substantial amount of money weekly and that financial resources would not be a problem as money he makes in a week or two can settle any matter, so he should not be worried.”

Aboh stated that the next day, the victim, oblivious of what lies ahead of him, accepted a ride from Sunday, who dropped him off at a location where Erim was allegedly waiting in ambush.

“Mr. Ikenga Adem Erim ambushed and shot our client on the head at point blank and cut him severally using a machete, inflicting severe and deadly injuries on his head, face, neck, hand and other parts of his body and leaving him for death,” the petitioner alleged.

According to Aboh, Sunday, who allegedly conspired with the suspects, hid Erim from the authorities and bragged about his ability to “buy off everybody, including the police and courts.”

Aboh noted, “Mr. Godknows Aho Amatey has actively stalled the investigation by concealing Mr. Ikenga Adem Erim and other parties involved.

“Our client is in a critical condition at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital.”

The petitioner therefore urged the police to”Investigate this matter urgently and thoroughly; arrest and prosecute all parties involved, including Mr. Godknows Aho Amatey, Mr. Sunday Aho Amatey, Mr. Ikenga Adem Erim, Mr. Annovu Sunday Aho and Amatey Otei Amatey.”

“We appreciate your prompt attention to this matter, and we look forward to your swift approval, considering its critical nature,” the petitioner added.

However, a year after the petition was written to the police IG, SaharaReporters was informed on Friday that the police have not acted on the petition till date while the victim still struggles with his life.

“The victim is alive but the accused are using money and connection to prevent justice,” a source familiar with the case told SaharaReporters on Friday, adding, “There is a court hearing on July 15.”
