APC Leaders in Ona-Ara, LGA, Oyo State Pass Vote of No Confidence on Party Chairman

Prominent leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ona-Ara Local Government Area of Oyo State have expressed deep dissatisfaction with the leadership of the party chairman, Hon. AbdulWasiu Kolawole Ogundipe.

The position was made known at a meeting of party leaders held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Elekuro High School, Ibadan, where several stakeholders took turns to speak on what they described as mounting internal challenges within the party.

According to the leaders, they are dissatisfied with the performance of Hon. Ogundipe as APC chairman in Ona-Ara, citing concerns over his leadership style and the general administration of party affairs. At the end of deliberations, the leaders reportedly passed a vote of no confidence on him.

The meeting also addressed concerns over what participants described as the high-handedness of Alhaji Yinka Folarin, elder brother of Senator Teslim Folarin. Speakers at the meeting alleged that his actions have negatively affected party unity and internal democracy within the local government.

Among the prominent APC leaders in attendance were Hon. Fawole, former Majority Leader of the Oyo State House of Assembly; Hon. Ismaila Akanni Ere, former Executive Chairman of Ona-Ara Local Government; Hon. Bayo Ogunsola; Hon. Rafiu Akanmu; and Chief (Mrs.) Aminat Kareem, a two-term former Women Leader of the APC in Ona-Ara Local Government.

The leaders called for urgent intervention by relevant party authorities to address the grievances raised, warning that continued internal discord could weaken the party’s structure and electoral prospects in Ona-Ara Local Government.
