The Member representing Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Engr. Fom Dalyop Chollom (Sanchos), has strongly condemned the gruesome attacks that claimed several lives in Barkin Ladi and Riyom Local Government Areas of Plateau State.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the lawmaker described the incidents as “barbaric and unacceptable,” lamenting the loss of lives in communities including Kworos-Gangare, Sabon Layi, Gana Ropp, Gura Kworo, Kashan Gwol in Barkin Ladi and other affected communities in Riyom Local Government Area.

Hon. Fom Dalyop Chollom expressed deep sorrow over the killing of Mr. Andrew (Baban Grace), Ngo Esther Yusuf, Mr. Dung Chung and other victims whose names are yet to be ascertained, describing them as innocent citizens going about their lawful activities.

The federal lawmaker also commiserated with the families of the deceased and prayed for the quick recovery of those injured, including Tek Pam, Dajack Pam, Paul Yakubu and several others receiving treatment in hospitals.

He said the recurring attacks on Plateau communities, particularly in Barkin Ladi and Riyom, have become a source of serious concern to all well-meaning Nigerians, charging security operatives to immediately go after the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

Hon. Sanchos called on the Federal Government to deploy more personnel and resources to the troubled areas in Barkin Ladi and Riyom to restore confidence and normalcy.

“The blood of these innocent souls cries out for justice. We cannot continue to watch our people slaughtered like animals in their own homes,” the statement read in part.

The legislator stressed the need for intelligence-driven operations to dismantle criminal networks operating in the region, adding that no effort should be spared in protecting lives and property.

He appealed to residents to remain vigilant.

Hon. Fom Dalyop Chollom assured constituents of his commitment to continue raising the issue at the National Assembly until lasting peace is restored in the Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency.

The lawmaker further urged traditional rulers, religious leaders and youth groups to work together in promoting peaceful coexistence among the various ethnic and religious groups in the area.
