Councillors of the Mikang Legislative Arm have unanimously endorsed frontline House of Assembly aspirant, Hon. Timdi Nkat, for the Mikang State Assembly seat, while also declaring support for the second-term bid of Governor Caleb Mutfwang ahead of the party primaries.
The endorsement took place during a meeting held at the Legislative Chamber on Tuesday evening, where members from the 18 wards in Mikang Local Government Area openly declared their support for Hon. Timdi Nkat and Governor Caleb Mutfwang.
The meeting was convened by the Leader of the House and Councillor representing Lalin Ward, Rt. Hon. Shepshal Putdet Maikalango, who stressed the importance of sustaining the zoning and power rotation arrangement in Mikang, describing it as key to unity and peaceful political relations in the local government.
Members said power rotation remains important in ensuring fairness and balance among the districts, noting that leadership should not remain in one district alone.
They also praised Governor Caleb Mutfwang for the ongoing road projects in Mikang.
According to the lawmakers, Hon. Timdi possesses the competence, energy, and fresh ideas needed to provide effective representation for the people of Mikang Constituency at the Plateau State House of Assembly.
The motion for the endorsement of Hon. Timdi was moved by Hon. Alexander Sangpien Yongpien, Councillor representing Yepwes Ward, and seconded by Hon. Putehl Jonathan Petei, Councillor representing Tehlkang Ward.
Responding to the endorsement, Hon. Timdi appreciated the confidence reposed in him by the lawmakers.
He assured them that, if elected, he would focus on providing quality representation, women and youth empowerment, and sponsoring laws that would promote development across Mikang.
