Washington, D.C. – On the invitation of Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States, Ambassador Lateef Kayode Are, respected Nigerian diaspora leader and Founder of the Nigerian Professionals Network (NPN), Olumide Kola-Lawal, led a delegation of Nigerian professionals, entrepreneurs, and business leaders from the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) region to an interactive engagement session at the Embassy of Nigeria in Washington, D.C.
Kola-Lawal, widely recognized for his commitment to advancing the interests of Nigerians both at home and abroad, has consistently championed initiatives that promote professional excellence, economic empowerment, and stronger connections between Nigeria and its global diaspora. Through the Nigerian Professionals Network, he has played a key role in fostering collaboration among Nigerian professionals while supporting efforts aimed at national development.
The engagement provided an opportunity for meaningful dialogue between the Nigerian Mission and members of the diaspora community.
Participants described the meeting as productive and forward-looking, with Ambassador Are demonstrating visionary leadership, strategic insight, and a strong commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s image and influence in the United States.
During the session, Ambassador Are outlined President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 4D Foreign Policy Agenda, emphasizing demography, development, democracy, and the diaspora as pillars for advancing Nigeria’s global interests.
His presentation underscored the importance of deeper engagement with Nigerians in the diaspora and the critical role they can play in supporting national growth and international partnerships.
Attendees welcomed the Ambassador’s openness to constructive ideas and collaborative initiatives. Members of the Nigerian professional community expressed their readiness to contribute more actively to the Mission’s objectives through investment promotion, entrepreneurship, professional development, cultural exchange, innovation, and citizen engagement.
