The annual GovernmentCollege Ughelli, GCU Relays, now in its Eight edition will resonate and indeed headline the 12th National Annual Dinner/Fund Raising Event scheduled for the Cathelea Convention Centre in Benin City.
Organised by the Government College Ughelli
Old Boys Association, GCOBA with a clear
cut objective of raising funds for Programmes
and Projects of the National Executive Committee, NEC, the GCU Relays, already confirmed for November 14th would
dominate the evening and the fund drive.
Still, the annual Dinner that would have
as Special Guests, The Governors of Delta
and Edo States, Sheriff Oborevwori and
Monday Okpebholo respectively is meant
to solicit for the funding of the school 80th
Anniversary Building Project, and support
for the students future with modern
facilities needed to excel in a fast
changing technological era / AI driven age.
HRM Albert Akpomudje, SAN is the Chief Host, Prof. Michael Diejomaoh is Chairman ,whilst Prof. Douglason Omotor would deliver the Keynote speech – From Legacy to Global Relevance: Transforming GCU through strategic partnerships, Alumni Engagement and Artificial Intelligence.
Early support for the GCU Relays has been given a boost by its traditional and key partner, GAMSU, Gamaliel and Susan Onosode Foundation, as well as some notable and passionate young and Ancient Mariners.
Relatedly, the HRM, Albert Akpomudje,
SAN, the President General Worldwide, PGWW, has given firm assurances of delivering on a momentous Event as his tenure as PGWW, comes to an end next year before the 9th edition.
“I intend handing over to my successor a most memorable GCU Relays. There is little doubt on my mind that he would take the GCU Relays to a higher height,” he disclosed.
Key to the GCU Relays is the firm desire
to progressively build and cement healthy
interaction between secondary schools
and students from different states of the
federation for the unity and progress of Nigeria.
The 8th edition holds on November 14th
at the GCU Athletics Complex and Tartan Tracks.
