Edo election: Activist kicks as APC supporters attack PDP members at INEC office [VIDEO]

Hundreds of All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters arrived by bus on Wednesday and launched a violent attack on supporters of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Benin City.

The brutal assault left one PDP supporter, identified as Scott, with severe and life-threatening injuries.

The violence continued on Friday when a young PDP member named Osas was also attacked by the same group of APC supporters.

The incidents of violence, which took place during the inspection of Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines have raised serious concerns about the conduct of the APC in the state.

Despite the APC’s purported victory in the recent Edo governorship election, which the PDP claims was achieved through massive rigging, the party has not relented in its aggression towards PDP members.

The attacks during the inspection of electoral materials, which left many injured, have sparked widespread condemnation.

Activist, Theophilus Abu Agada, shared a video of one of those attacked on X (formerly Twitter), chiding the APC for its conduct since the conclusion of the election.

Calls to end electoral violence have been amplified, with many urging for swift action to address the growing unrest.

Meanwhile, #StopElectoralViolence has become a rallying cry across social media, as citizens demand an end to politically motivated attacks and the safeguarding of democratic rights across the country.
