The Integrity Youth Alliance has dismissed as false a recent publication by Sahara Reporters alleging that CP Akin Fakorede deployed police officers to support an unlawful land takeover by the Enugu State Government in Abuja.
In a statement issued on Sunday and signed by its spokesperson, Danjuma Lamido, the group described the report, titled “IGP Team Head Fakorede Accused Of Deploying Police To Back Enugu Govt Land Takeover In Abuja Despite Court Orders, IGP Ban,” as misleading, mischievous, and intended to misinform the public.
According to the Alliance, CP Fakorede did not at any time collude with the Enugu State Government to unlawfully seize land in Abuja. It clarified that the property referenced in the report, Plot 804, Cadastral Zone B03, Wuye, along Dahiru Mustapha Boulevard, is a legitimate asset allocated to the Enugu State Government in 1993 and is not under dispute with any recognised entity.
The group further stated that there is no court order removing the Enugu State Government from the property or restraining it from accessing or using the land. It explained that police officers present at the site are attached to the Enugu State Liaison Office and were deployed solely for security purposes to prevent vandalism and theft of government assets.
Integrity Youth Alliance also refuted claims that the Inspector-General of Police Monitoring Unit deployed personnel to the property, describing the allegation as entirely fabricated.
The Alliance urged Sahara Reporters to adhere to professional journalism standards by verifying facts before publication, warning against the spread of false information capable of misleading the public and damaging reputations. It advised members of the public to disregard the report and rely on verified information.
